11 July 2026, Kanpur: The Kanpur Obstetric and Gynaecological Society (KOGS) successfully organized its first scientific meeting under the leadership of its newly elected Executive Committee. It may be recalled that the new committee was constituted on July 4, 2026, with Dr. Kanchan Sharma assuming the office of President and Dr. Renu Tandon taking charge as Secretary.

The scientific session witnessed enthusiastic participation from senior obstetricians and gynaecologists, medical faculty members, and resident doctors from across the city. The meeting focused on Endometriosis, with experts discussing its early diagnosis, recent advances in treatment, and comprehensive patient management strategies.

KOGS Organizes CME on Latest Guidelines for Anemia and Preterm Labor Management

17 May 2026, Kanpur : The Kanpur Obstetrics and Gynecology Society (KOGS), affiliated with FOGSI, organized a Continuing Medical Education (CME) program today on the topic “Latest Guidelines for the Management of Iron Deficiency Anemia and Preterm Labor” at Hotel Royal Cliff, Swaroop Nagar, Kanpur.

The academic session was inaugurated with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by KOGS President Dr. Kalpana Dixit, Secretary Dr. Reshma Nigam, Chief Speaker and FOGSI Past President Dr. P.K. Shah, along with other distinguished guests present on the dais.

During the first scientific session, Dr. P.K. Shah delivered a lecture on the latest guidelines for the management of iron deficiency anemia. He highlighted that more than 50% of pregnant women in Uttar Pradesh suffer from anemia, which is a major cause of maternal mortality and low birth weight in newborns. He elaborated on the FOGSI/ICMR 2025 updates, including oral iron therapy, new single-dose IV iron therapy, and strategies for early detection and treatment under the “Anemia Mukt Bharat” initiative.

The second session was conducted by Dr. Meera Agnihotri, Dr. Kalpana Dixit, and Dr. Reshma Nigam. The speakers also noted that the day marked World Hypertension Day, emphasizing that 5–10% of maternal deaths in India are due to pre-eclampsia and eclampsia, and that IV Magnesium Sulfate injections are highly effective in prevention and management.

Dr. Meera Agnihotri addressed the topic “Latest Guidelines for the Management of Preterm Labor”, stating that 35% of neonatal deaths in India are due to preterm births. She discussed evidence-based use of progesterone, tocolytics, antenatal corticosteroids, and magnesium sulfate for neuroprotection, and emphasized the importance of timely referral and NICU preparedness.

The CME witnessed participation from over 100 senior gynecologists, postgraduate students, and medical officers from Kanpur and nearby districts. This was followed by an interactive panel discussion, where participants shared practical challenges faced in managing anemia and preterm labor.

The program concluded with a vote of thanks by KOGS Secretary Dr. Reshma Nigam, who reaffirmed the society’s commitment to academic excellence and promoting public health awareness for women in the region.

21 Jan 2026, Kanpur : Faculty members of GSVM Medical College, Kanpur marked their active and impactful participation at the prestigious national conference of the All India Congress of Obstetrics and Gynaecology (AICOG), held in New Delhi from 14th to 18th January 2026.

The college was represented by Dr. Renu Gupta, Dr. Divya Dwivedi, Dr. Pratima Verma, Dr. Rashmi Yadav, Dr. Suchita Tripathi, Dr. Fatima Usmani, and Dr. Karishma Sharma. The faculty members participated in various scientific sessions and contributed to academic discussions, facilitating the exchange of knowledge and clinical experience.

18 Sep 2025, Kanpur: स्वस्थ नारी सशक्त परिवार अभियान (17 सितम्बर से 2 अक्तूबर 2025) के अंतर्गत जी. एस. वी. एम. मेडिकल कॉलेज, कानपुर के स्त्री एवं प्रसूति रोग विभाग और मानसिक रोग विभाग द्वारा दिनांक 18 सितम्बर 2025, गुरुवार को" प्रसवोत्तर मानसिक स्वास्थ्य जागरूकता कार्यक्रम (Postpartum mental health awareness camp)" का आयोजन किया गया। जिसमें लगभग 75 मरीज इस व्याख्यान से लाभान्वित हुए।

कार्यक्रम का आयोजन प्राचार्य डॉ. संजय काला एवं उप प्राचार्या डॉ. ऋचा गिरी, S IC डॉ R K singh , स्त्री एवं प्रसूति रोग विभागाध्यक्ष प्रो. डॉ. रेनु गुप्ता, मानसिक रोग विभागाध्यक्ष प्रो. डॉ. धनंजय चौधरी, नोडल ऑफिसर डॉ नीना गुप्ता के मार्गदर्शन में किया गया।
कार्यक्रम का संचालन डॉ प्रतिमा वर्मा द्वारा किया गया।

इस अवसर पर विभागाध्यक्ष डॉक्टर रेनू गुप्ता ने गर्भवती स्त्रियों एवं उनके परिवारजनों को प्रसव के पश्चात के शरीर की रिकवरी, घावों की जांच और किसी भी जटिलता के लिए निगरानी रखने के बारे में बताया गया।

नोडल अधिकारी डॉक्टर नीना गुप्ता ने बताया कि "हमें इस समस्या के प्रति जागरूकता बढ़ाने की जरूरत है। परिवार को भी नई माँ के व्यवहार में आने वाले बदलावों को पहचानना और सहयोग करना चाहिए। सही समय पर परामर्श और इलाज से इस स्थिति को पूरी तरह से ठीक किया जा सकता है"।

मनोरोग विभाग के विभागाध्यक्ष। डॉक्टर धनंजय ने बताया कि प्रसवोत्तर मनोरोग संबंधी विकारों की व्यापकता उनके प्रकार पर निर्भर करती है। इसमें प्रसवोत्तर ब्लूज़ (बेबी ब्लूज़), प्रसवोत्तर अवसाद, प्रसवोत्तर मनोविकार शामिल हैं।

मुख्य वक्ता डॉ शिखा मनोरोग विभाग से बताया कि यह विकार अलग-अलग महिलाओं में अलग-अलग रूप से पाए जाते हैं, जिनमें सबसे आम से लेकर दुर्लभ तक शामिल हैं।

इसमें प्रसवोत्तर मनोविकार बहुत ही दुर्लभ लेकिन गंभीर मानसिक बीमारी है जो की बच्चे के जन्म के बाद अचानक हो सकती है। एक यह लगभग 1,000 में से 1 माँ को प्रभावित करती है। यह आमतौर पर बच्चे के जन्म के पहले दो से तीन हफ्तों के भीतर शुरू होती है। यह एक मेडिकल इमरजेंसी है और इसके लिए तुरंत इलाज की जरूरत होती है।

इसके मुख्य लक्षण ये हो सकते है:

बहुत ज्यादा भ्रमित महसूस करना, सोचने समझने में दिक्कत महसूस करना, शक करना, अधिक ऊर्जावान होना, नींद में कमी, बच्चे या स्वयं को नुकसान पहुंचाने का डर या विचार आना।

प्रसवोत्तर मनोविकार का इलाज संभव है। इसमें आमतौर पर डॉक्टर की सलाह, दवाइयाँ और थेरेपी शामिल होती है।

प्रसव के बाद महिलाओं के शरीर में होने वाले हार्मोनल बदलाव, नींद की कमी, नई जिम्मेदारियों का दबाव और पारिवारिक सहयोग की कमी इसके मुख्य कारण हैं। ग्रामीण क्षेत्रों में जागरूकता की कमी और मानसिक स्वास्थ्य से जुड़ी समस्याओं को सामाजिक कलंक मानने के कारण कई महिलाएं इलाज से वंचित रह जाती हैं।

कार्यक्रम में सहित सभी संकाय सदस्यों का सहयोग रहा। इस अवसर पर डॉक्टर अनीता गौतम, डॉ सीमा द्विवेदी, डॉ शैली अग्रवाल, डॉ पाविका लाल, डॉ रश्मि यादव इत्यादि उपस्थित रहे।

17 Sep 25, Kanpur स्वस्थ नारी सशक्त परिवार अभियान (17 सितम्बर से 2 अक्तूबर 2025) के अंतर्गत जी.एस.वी.एम. मेडिकल कॉलेज, कानपुर के स्त्री एवं प्रसूति रोग विभाग द्वारा दिनांक 17 सितम्बर 2025, बुधवार को मेनोपॉज़ एवं बोन हेल्थ जागरूकता कार्यक्रम (BMD Camp) का आयोजन किया गया।

कार्यक्रम का आयोजन प्राचार्य डॉ. संजय काला एवं उप प्राचार्या डॉ. ऋचा गिरी , विभागाध्यक्ष प्रो. डॉ. रेनु गुप्ता, नोडल ऑफिसर डॉ नीना गुप्ता के मार्गदर्शन में किया गया ।

इस अवसर पर डॉ नीना गुप्ता ने कहा कि रजोनिवृत्ति के बाद महिलाओं में कैल्शियम एवं हार्मोनल परिवर्तन के कारण हड्डियों की कमजोरी बढ़ जाती है,।

डॉ रेनू गुप्ता ने मेनोपॉज के पश्चात समय पर स्वास्थ्य संबंधी व हड्डियों की जांच एवं संतुलित आहार के साथ जीवनशैली में सुधार के महत्व के विषय में बताया।

समन्वयक डॉ. शैलेी अग्रवाल द्वारा रजोनिवृत्ति से संबंधित स्वास्थ्य समस्याओं एवं हड्डियों की कमजोरी (ऑस्टियोपोरोसिस) की रोकथाम के विषय में जानकारी दी गई

, “मेनोपॉज़ को लेकर कई मिथक और भ्रांतियाँ हैं। हम चाहते हैं कि महिलाएँ इसे डर या झिझक से नहीं, बल्कि जानकारी और आत्मविश्वास के साथ स्वीकार करें। उचित देखभाल, नियमित चिकित्सकीय जांच और परिवार का सहयोग इस अवस्था में स्वास्थ्य और मानसिक संतुलन बनाए रखने में मदद करता है।”

विशेषज्ञ चिकित्सकों द्वारा 87 महिलाओं को नि:शुल्क परामर्श एवं बोन मिनरल डेंसिटी (BMD) जांच की सुविधा उपलब्ध कराई गई।
BMD जांच में
80 %महिलाओं में osteopenia पाया गया तथा 14% महिलाएं ओस्टियोपोरोसिस से ग्रस्त पाई गई।

कार्यक्रम में स्वास्थ्य जांच शिविर तथा व्यक्तिगत परामर्श से संबंधित गतिविधियाँ एवं संतुलित आहार पर मार्गदर्शन दिया गया। बड़ी संख्या में महिलाओं ने उत्साहपूर्वक भाग लिया और विशेषज्ञों से सीधे संवाद कर अपने प्रश्नो का उत्तर पाया

कार्यक्रम में डॉ श्रुति गुप्ता , डॉ पंखुड़ी जायसवाल डॉ नूर फातिमा सहित सभी संकाय सदस्यों का सहयोग रहा।
