ISOPARB Kanpur Holds Scientific Seminar on Severe Anaemia and Blood Transfusion
8th Aug 2026, Kanpur: The ISOPARB Society, Kanpur, organized a scientific seminar on “Severe Anaemia and Blood Transfusion” on Saturday at Hotel Royal Cliff. The programme brought together senior doctors and healthcare experts from the city, who shared their views on important aspects of anaemia and blood transfusion.
Senior Obstetrician and Gynaecologist Dr. Neelam Mishra, President of ISOPARB Society Kanpur, highlighted the prevalence of anaemia, stating that overall anaemia affects nearly 73% of the population, including 65% of pregnant women, 53% of adolescents and a significant number of women. She also explained the appropriate approach to blood transfusion in different situations, including pregnancy, normal delivery and caesarean section.
In the first scientific session, Dr. Manisha Agarwal delivered a detailed lecture on “Overview of Anaemia and Focus on Severe Anaemia.” She discussed the causes and increasing impact of anaemia, early diagnosis, modern investigation and treatment methods, as well as effective management of severe anaemia. She emphasized that timely diagnosis and appropriate treatment can help prevent serious complications.
The second scientific session featured Dr. Priyanka Verma, who spoke on “Blood Transfusion Protocol.” She explained the safe and scientific process of blood transfusion, necessary precautions, appropriate patient selection, ensuring the quality of blood, and the importance of following national and international transfusion guidelines.
During the programme, the experts also responded to questions from participating doctors and shared the latest medical updates related to anaemia and blood transfusion. The seminar aimed to keep healthcare professionals updated with current scientific knowledge and promote safe, effective and quality treatment for patients.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks. Chief Patron Dr. Meera Agnihotri, President Dr. Neelam Mishra, Secretary Dr. Kiran Sinha, along with Dr. Kamal Dhan, Dr. Kiran Pandey, Dr. Sangeeta Arya, Dr. Reshma Nigam, Dr. Reena Mattu, Dr. Sheila Sharma, Dr. Reeta Mittal, Dr. Renu Gupta, Dr. Kalpana Dixit, Dr. Kanchan Sharma and around 80 doctors attended the programme.
